Tuesday Teaser!

Today's teaser is from my novel, Chyna Doll, a standalone novel that is part of the Horizons Series. You can purchase the novel at AMAZON or read for free with your KU subscription.

Blurb

It was always a monstrous lie...

Born with a sexual development disorder, Chyna Davidson should have been raised as a male, but due to an epic parenting fail, is being raised as female. Hiding the truth becomes more difficult when Chyna hits puberty, and crushing over Luca Dilorio, her brother's best friend, adds another element to Chyna’s struggle to fit in.

Growing up with two dads and two gay uncles has given Luca a unique perspective on gender roles, but not all the answers. He’s had a secret crush on his straight best friend, Chip, for years. Suddenly, Luca finds himself attracted to Chyna, Chip’s twin sister. Now he's wondering if this means he’s bisexual.

With Lil and Grier away on vacation, fifteen-year-old Luca is left in the care of Chicago Bear, Clark Stevens, and his partner, Dr. Jody Williams. Is his moral compass strong enough to guide him successfully through this period of discovery without his parents loving presence or will he succumb to peer pressure and shatter Chyna's dreams for happiness?

Teaser

She’d spent most of the night crying, so she looked like a bullfrog when she woke up, although puffy eyelids were the least of her problems. The damn thing between her legs was sticking straight out like a flagpole and would be impossible to tuck properly. More and more, unwanted erections were getting in the way of her morning routine. She was reluctant to do anything about them because if she jerked off like a boy, wouldn’t it put the nail on the coffin? She punched at her erection instead and howled when she doubled over in pain. The stupid thing retreated like a frightened snail, and she began the tedious process of getting dressed.

She pulled up the extra-tight spandex compression panties, which had cost her mom a fortune, and pushed her penis and balls back toward her butthole. The unsightly bulge was gone. Bisected by her penis and shoved on either side of her thighs, her balls nestled perfectly in their hiding place, and everything was locked in by the stretchy fabric.

She had to give Lisa credit for teaching her this bit of deception. Her mother had gone online and searched drag queen sites for tips on making Chyna’s life more manageable after she was informed the cheer coach had asked her daughter why she was using pads instead of tampons. She’d seen the bump and assumed Chyna had her period. Lisa was surprised there was hardly any reliable information on the Internet regarding intersex people. The world might be evolving, but people born with ambiguous or dual sexual organs were still considered anomalies. Long ago, they were called hermaphrodites, but the offensive word had long since been discarded, and now the scientific community dubbed them “intersex.” Cool-sounding word, which no one ever heard or talked about. People like her were considered a dirty secret everyone wanted to sweep under the carpet or display at a carnival. The public were leaning more about transgenders each day, but people like Chyna? Not so much. Lisa ended up on RuPaul’s site to teach her daughter how to tuck.

Of course, this only worked if she could keep the damn boners under control. Peeing was another issue altogether. Trying to find a secure location where she could take her time to do her business was always a challenge. Sure, the girl’s restroom had closed stalls, but it never stopped anyone who was intent on mischief. One of these days she might step on someone’s toes, and there was no telling what they’d do to get back at her.

Chyna’s safe bubble had slowly begun disintegrating when she and her friends started puberty. She’d never fit in once clothes were shed, so she hid behind the modesty mask and listened to the girls call her a prude when she began changing behind locked doors. It was another reason she’d decided to stop cheering. There was no way she could keep up the charade when her teammates thought nothing of parading around the lockers half naked. Lately, she’d cut down on her liquids to avoid the school bathrooms in general. It was difficult on warm days when all she wanted to do was guzzle soda to quench her thirst, but the downside was worse, so she learned how to do without until she got home.
